The character up on the rock is Okina surrounded by her three kitsunes. Okina herself is possessed by a kitsune, and one of her powers is primarily illusions, which she creates through incense smoke. Possibly one of the most common tales revolving around the Japanese fox depicts them duping nighttime travelers by using illusion.
